The electric car battery cell assembly line is integrated with an injection press and is a turnkey project for the production of modular overmolded cells for the subsequent assembly of electric car batteries.
Starting from aluminum coils and plastic feeding to the injection press, the line automatically conducts the operations of aluminum cell forming and punching, transfer to assembly lines, handling, orientation, and insertion into the injection mold, unloading of overmolded cells, quality control, orientation, and filling of dedicated trays, stacking the trays to form the finished pallet.
Cycle time: 35 sec/12 pcs (injection mold time 12 cavities).
Assembly and inspection operations:
- Feeding from coil, forming, and punching of aluminum cells.
- Quality control of aluminum cells with a vision station.
- Buffer cell station, fed by the line, to ensure production continuity during coil change.
- Transfer, handling, and orientation of aluminum cells with loading units and electric shuttles.
- High-rigidity Cartesian robot with two gripping units for loading each of 6 aluminum cells into the mold and unloading 6 overmolded cells from the mold.
- Orientation, singulation, and transfer section to quality control and dummy test.
- Camera system for checking correct injection, cleanliness of aluminum surfaces – absence of plastic scraps on planes and bent fins – presence and depth of front holes.
- Cartesian robot with special multiple gripping unit for loading finished cells into trays at the deposition station, transferring full trays onto forming pallets, and loading empty trays at the deposition station.
- Automatic movement conveyor for incoming pallets, formation, and outgoing pallets.
